Let's Meet
I'm Lynne, a passionate artist
Art has always been an integral part of my identity, and from as early as I can remember, it has played an important part in my life. When I was fifteen, I began looking for ways I could pursue arts as either a career or a devoted passion - leading me to study Commercial Illustration at The College of Art in Brisbane, This life-changing decision taught me so much - not only about art and myself, but also led me to many beautiful friends who I am fortunate to still have in my life today.
An appreciation of the arts has run deep within my family for generations. Both my grandmother, and father were both immensily creative and artistic, and were always such inspirations for me growing up. When I reflect on the role of the arts in my life, it certainly wasn't a chance interest or talent, but one inherited from my family, and one which has been passed on through me, and onto my own children.
As a child, I dreamt of working as an illustrator at the Walt Disney studios, Disney's Bambi was and still is a favourite. I would practice drawing the characters for hours, including for my children when they were young. When I reflect on my journey as an artist, I'm always amazed how dreams evolve; once an aspiring illustrator, my work and interests have expanded into capturing a wide variety of realistic subjects and scenes. That is the beauty of art and the creative process - watching one idea grow and morph into something entirely new, often without specific intention or clear direction, into something more wonderful than initialy imagined. I have taken on a number of professions in my life - however at my heart I have always been an artist.
A year ago, I decided to start sharing my work via Instagram @lynnelyonsartist, to keep inspiring me and to activey particpate in, and foster the gifted community of artists, and share the benefits of including and experiencing art in daily life. I am fortunate to have my own art studio at home, and it is truly my happy place where I can lose myself to the world and immerse myself in this meditative and calming outlet.
My current focus is detail oriented, hyper-realistism pieces, in a variety of mediums incuding graphite, charcoal and acrylics. I love sharing this passion with others - and every month for the past 20 years I host a lovely group of women, and help them to bring their own creations to life.
A carer, art teacher, and self made artist— I am so thrilled to share my journey with you.
