Born in McKinnon, Melbourne art has always been an integral part of who I am today. From as early as I can remember, I’ve known that integrating art into my daily life was absolutely necessary. By the age of fifteen, my family moved to Brisbane, and I began looking for ways I could pursue the inclusion of arts into my life as either a career or simply a devoted passion. I decided to study Commercial Illustration at the college of art in Brisbane, where I learned so much, and made some of my life’s most beautiful connections. At the College of Art in Brisbane, I met life long friends, and learned a bit more about myself and where I saw my art career going.
Reflecting on my family history, an appreciation of the arts has ran deep within my family’s veins for generations. My paternal grandmother and father were both artistic, and growing up, were such inspirations for me. As I examine my work today, I realize that my passion interest in the arts was no where near by chance, but instead was inherited and passed on through me, onto my children.
As a child, I dreamed of working at the Walt Disney studios, as a cartoonist! When you look at my modern work, its amazing how dreams evolve; as a once aspiring illustrator, my work has expanded to capture more realistic scenes. For me, this is what art is about! We start with one idea, and without intention, our direction is capable of changing entirely.
Over the past year, I have worked to publicize my art work on my Instagram page @lynnelyonsartist, and also try to encourage and foster a positive community regarding the benefits of including art in your daily life. I am lucky enough to have my own art studio in my home, and find that the work I do is meditative and calming. In short, my studio is my happy place!
I am a woman who wears many hats, and have taken on a variety of professions in my life. However, what I am most passionate about at the moment is producing detail oriented, hyper realistic pieces, in both graphite charcoal and acrylics. One Saturday per month, I host a lovely group of women, who get together to work on their own paintings under my supervision. A carer, art teacher, and self made artist— I am so thrilled to share my art journey with you on this platform.
Looking forward to connecting with you regarding any enquiries that might come up regarding my classes, and the pieces I have for sale.
